Dong Quai, sometimes called the “female ginseng” has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Some of dong quai’s constituents include coumarins, essential oils, ferulic acids, psoralens, vitamin B12, and folinic acid. Folinic acid is the active form of folic acid.

Dong quai is commonly prescribed by herbalists to women who need to “enrich” their blood. The properties found in dong quai are believed to promote reduced fatigue in women and increase vitality. Dong quai is also traditionally used to promote relief from female reproductive problems including vaginal dryness, premenstrual syndrome, menopausal symptoms, and hot flashes. Studies have shown that dong quai promotes both stimulating and relaxing activity on uterine tissue. This may be due to its anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and analgesic effects.

Recommendations

As a dietary supplement, take forty (40) drops with juice or water three (3) times daily. Shake well before using.
