Nettle has been traditionally used in herbal medicine for hundreds of years. Its leaves and stems contain tiny hairs that cause a burning sensation when rubbing against the skin, giving it the name “nettle”, which means “needle”. Nettle is rich in a variety of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, fats, amino acids, polyphenols, and pigments.

Nettle is often used to promote diuretic effects and may support urinary system health. A diuretic is a substance that increases the production of urine and helps rid the body of excess water and sodium. Nettle may support the relief of symptoms associated with urinary tract infections by increasing urine volume and promoting the elimination of bacteria from the urinary tract.

• Promotes Prostate Gland Health

Up to 50% of men aged 51 and older have an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Nettle may support the relief of urinary symptoms associated with BPH such as incomplete emptying of the bladder and the constant urge to urinate. Additionally, some studies have found that nettle may assist in preventing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, which may support a reduced prostate size.
