Stress in the Latino Community
Posted by Gus on 7/1/2012 to • General Health

In American society, there is an extensive amount of pressure to succeed.  We all crave success, however success may come easier to some more so than others.  Latin Americans, particularly those that have immigrated here, may find that success is easier said than done. Hispanics that are not natives to this country may struggle with emotional distress. Latin Americans are classified as minorities. As minorities, occasionally we may experience inequality, poverty, and discrimination, in addition to language barriers during social interaction. Whether it is prejudicial treatment or the inability to function at ease, these situations can cause an individual to suffer from a psychological and physiological disorder, commonly known as anxiety.

An anxiety disorder comes in various forms, which may be the reason why people fail to recognize that they are ill. Panic attacks, phobias, posttraumatic stress and obsessive-compulsive disorders are all categorized as anxiety disorders. Abnormal breathing, uncontrollable thoughts, disturbing memories that cause reoccurring nightmares, as well as physical discomfort, such as nausea and heart palpitations are common symptoms of an anxiety disorder.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, the Latin American community’s vulnerability to a new culture has indicated that we are at an increased risk of suffering from emotional distress. Having strong cultural values has influenced us to have faith in traditional healers and churches to restore our bodies back to health. Therefore, Latinos fail to recognize mental illnesses and mistaken nervousness, or physical weakness as a minor problem due to the lack of utilizing mental health services.

It is evident that continuous stressful events may lead to anxiety. It is necessary to know your body and recognize if you are experiencing a form of anxiety daily. Culturally, many of us believe in natural healing. Natura-Genics® offers a product that alleviates stress, tension and nervousness. Relax+ contains vitamins and anesthetized herbal ingredients that may prevent and treat the onset of an emotional disorder. Also try Passion Flower and Kava Kava supplements. They too have beneficial properties that not only relieve you mentally, but physically as well. They alleviate the physical symptoms obtained from an emotional disorder, such as aiding in flatulence (excessive gas), diarrhea and an upset stomach.

Try these products today. Stop feeling wound up and take a breather!
